Why Foundation for a Path Forward exists

Foundation for a Path Forward is a Canadian charity. We do two things in public:
- Run programs that help people land meaningful, full-time work. Our flagship right now is PRIME, which is currently for refugees and forcibly displaced people in Canada.
- Make this content brand — the podcast and articles you’re reading — for anyone curious about working with AI.
Why two jobs and not one
We could just run the program. A lot of nonprofits do exactly that, and they do it well. Two reasons we don’t:
The audience for “AI in careers” is much wider than the audience for “PRIME, a refugees-and-newcomers program.” Sending all of one to the other wastes everyone’s time. The content brand serves the broader audience without forcing them through a funnel they’re not a fit for.
The work we do with PRIME participants teaches us things we’d otherwise keep to ourselves. A lot of what we learn — what AI tools actually help, what to watch out for, what employers care about — is useful to far more people than will ever go through PRIME. So we share it.
The name
“Path forward” is the metaphor we use across everything. Not “you’re broken, we’ll fix you.” Not “let us place you somewhere.” A path is something you walk yourself. We’re a foundation for it.
That principle changes how we say almost everything. We don’t say “we’ll place you in a job” — we say we work with people to land one. We don’t say “we know what’s best for your career” — we say we’ll pull together what we know and walk alongside you while you decide.
This show is the same idea, applied to AI. We don’t have all the answers. We have careful conversations, and we share them.
